Pose to Pose Animation Workshop - Intermediate

In this workshop Sykosan will share with you his techniques to create smooth "pose to pose" animations for an impactful result. This is an animation course with pre-recorded videos and a choice between "Recorded Feedback" and "Live Q&A Feedback".

📦 Content

• A four-part video tutorial, with 4 assignments to complete. 📝
  • Part 1: Impactful Key frames
    Create challenging key frames for impressive angles and complex camera moves.
  • Part 2: Test run your breakdown frames
    Break down an ambitious animation into simple steps to make it more realistic, interesting and easy to manage.
  • Part 3: Inbetweening smoothly
    Learn inbetweening tips for smooth results even on low frame rates.
  • Part 4: Secondary animation
    How to manage those lovely secondary movements without headaches.
• Choose between:

    30 minutes max each. ⏳
  • Live Q&A Feedback 🛜
    50 minutes max each. ⏳
    Also be recorded and available for download. ⬇️
• Extra files provided as examples. 📂
• You are free to animate your own character designs.

📅 Schedule

You can watch the videos and do the assignments in your own time. Then, when you're ready you can send over your work to me.

• If you chose a recorded feedback, I will aim to send a video within 48 hours of each submission. 🕒
• If you chose a live Q&A feedback, then you will be able to book each session at your convenience with a link that I will provide. 📅

🖥️ Equipment

You can use any app you want for the assignments, but the demonstrations will be done in Photoshop.

You'll need to export either GIF, MP4, or MOV files for review, but I can also open the following files: Photoshop, Krita, Clip Studio or Toon Boom.

🧑‍🎓 Who is this for? 

For intermediate artists who want to increase their skills but also know the basics of animation. This is not a session for total beginners. The principles of this tutorial can also be applied to 3D animation and other types.

My name is Sykosan and I have been an independent  illustrator and animator since 2004. My clients include Marvel, Katy Perry, Netflix, Capcom, Supercell, the BBC and more. I have been teaching illustration and animation since 2020.
